I’d have a dabble with 35mm first then move onto digital. I’d get a Minolta SRT101, they’re cheap to buy and very good to use.

35mm SLR you can find used Nikon’s and Canon’s for little to nothing on B&H and craigslist. One that you can adjust the apature,sutter speed and use manual focuse as well as auto settings.

start out with a camera you can use fully manually.. meaning you adjust focus, aperture, shutter speed, etc yourself instead of the camera doing it for you. any of the nikon N series or canon T or K series will do if you want to have the option of using automatic settings. to really get a feel for things though, i’d suggest starting out with something that can’t be just put into auto, cuz it’ll force you to actually get to know how cameras work, as opposed to relying on auto. with an average lens you shouldn’t have any problem finding a 35mm camera for under 200. look online for the best deals.. make sure it’s in working order! and have fun! don’t be afraid to experiment with different sorts of film and filters!

I use a Fujifilm Finepix S700 It has a lot of great features with a 10x zoom. The cost now I believe is around $200. It is a great starter camera. It is a 7.1 mp camera with Fujifilms CCD chip for image capture. Check it out! I use this camera for my general photo work, and get great pics.

A Holga costs $25 and it a great way to have some fun with photography.
