I’m buying one anyways since it looks nice and it’s high quality.

so many people are willing to cut the strap of your purse or camera to make an extra few bucks.. even right from around your neck

The idea is that a thief can’t easily cut through it. I don’t have any idea what the whole “strapping it to an object” thing was about.

You strap it to an object, rather than leaving your camera on a seat or the ground next to you, so that someone can’t quickly run past & grab it. You wouldn’t strap it to a pole & then go & do your shopping & come back hoping your camera was still there.

I like that you can remove the strap easily. This is nice if you use a tripod. The strap seems to get in my way when doing so. The one I have does not have steel cables.
