Thanks for the info, I’ve had the same concern. Have you seen the internals of any modern dSLRs? Old film cameras were built like tanks compared to some of today’s cameras. I’d be curious to hear/see how solid the tripod connection is on say a Canon 30D or 5D.

A tripod thread on a camera is designed to hold a none shaking camera etc
walking along the camera will be bouncing
The strap is a good idea but i would prefer a small “plate” to spread the load around the tripod mount
